My dreams where not pleasant as I dreamed of what had happened to me over the past few days but I woke up before I got to what had occurred on Monday. I did know that it was Tuesday and I needed to focus on getting ready for school. When I opened my eyes I noticed I was no longer in my home but lying down on the ground. I was out in a forest. That's when the events of Monday all rushed back to me. This really got me depressed because I had just left my family and everything I had known to be the norm of my life. I knew things where going to probably get harder from here on out but I had to continue anyway.
As I headed on down to get a drink from the stream my stomach started to growl. I needed to find some food. So, after I took a few gulps of water from the stream I took off into the sky in search of something to eat. I have never hunted before and I was not looking forward to what I knew I was going to need to do in the next few minutes. As I neared some of the other nearby forests I could see a group of deer resting out in a clearing some 5 kilometers from where I had been sleeping. Not wanting to miss a meal I folded my wings and dive-bombed towards the unsuspecting group of deer. As I got closer to the ground I leveled out and landed right in the middle of the group. They all woke up suddenly and noticed my presence. As if they were thinking exactly the same thing, they started to flee all in the same direction at once. I chased after them swerving in and out of the trees at breakneck speed. After a while I was able to catch one in my hungry maw. I thrashed it about to break it's neck. Feeling it suddenly relax all muscles, I knew it was dead. I dug out a hole in the ground and placed it inside. I created a jet of flame to cook it for at least 3 minutes knowing that it was safer to eat cooked meat than having it raw and also not wanting to repeat the same sort of meal event as on Saturday.
After the estimated 3 minutes was up I cut out my fire breath and inspected the results of my first cooking efforts. I noticed the deer was burnt in places but it looked like it would be edible. Using my claws, I removed the parts I did not want and ate the meat. I was surprised how good it tasted. I had never had venison before that but knew that I would not mind doing this again. After I was finished eating I buried the remains of the deer in the hole that I had made for cooking it.
Knowing that RuCarNutz was on his way I was stuck in thought about whether or not I should try and meet up with him or wait patiently for him to find me. After a couple of hours went by I finally settled on trying to meet up with him. I headed towards his last destination which was over in Carson City. This was based on the message he sent me a couple days ago when he asked me where he and I could meet. I typed Carson City into my I-phone on the GPS feature I had installed a while back and once it provided the information I was dumb-struck at how far away that was. "Shoot that's a long ways away. How am I going to get over there?" I asked myself "Well looks like it's going to take a long time to get there. At least 3 hours by plane, but since I can't go by plane without scaring everyone in the terminal, I will have to fly myself and that might be more than 7 hours. Wait, I wonder..?"
After thinking, I took off and headed towards Toronto to get to Air Canada flying as fast as I could. I knew that I was leaving my home far behind me. I had to stop and check my GPS a few times to make sure I was going in the right direction and during one of these times I also decided to take a look at the flight schedules for Air Canada. Thankfully there was a flight departing conveniently in just 2 hours. Taking a look at how close I was and how far I had come, I estimated my arrival to the Airport in 1 and a half hours so I once again took off.
Once I got to Air Canada I looked up which gate the plane would be departing from using my I phone. It would be leaving from gate 117B. I was thankful that they have the gate numbers on the pavement as well because I would not have been able to find it otherwise. Once I located gate 117B I figured I should just wait on the roof of the terminal until the plane started to depart and then just a short hop to land on the plane's roof once it got off of the runway.
Half an hour latter the plane at gate 117B was finished loading and was starting to back away from the airport terminal. As it taxied over to the runway for take off I decided to get myself ready I knew that this was going to be a hit or miss situation. Either I would be able to get onto the airplane as it took off or I would miss it by bare inches. As I watched the airplane starting to gain speed I launched myself off of the terminal roof. I flew towards the middle of the runway as fast as I could so that I would be able to get onto the plane once it got to that point. My window of opportunity was rapidly closing. I tried to gain some more speed. Just as the lift the wings started to raise the front wheel of the airplane off the ground, I gave one more extra hard push with my wings and finally made it onto the plane, sinking my claws into the delicate metal of the outer skin to hold on. I was now on my way to Carson City.
I enjoyed the flight. It was smooth sailing even with the wind buffeting me and sure, it was really cold, but I knew that if I was still human and had tried doing this I would have been killed from suffocation, hyperthermia and also from the wind. But, as a dragon I seemed to be able to do this. Sure, it was still dangerous and all but it was necessary. I would not be able to get to Carson City by wing fast enough.
On the approach to Carson City the weather changed drastically. It had started off as a nice sunny day in Toronto, had changed to cloudy at least 2 hours into the flight, then all of a sudden very stormy. There were pitch black storm clouds with the sound of thunder and some flashes of lightning all around Carson City. Not only stormy but there was also a voice in the winds that sounded familiar. Too familiar. Then, suddenly the clouds took on a familiar shape that I had hoped never to see in real life. The same evil presence that I had seen in my dreams just before I woke up on Monday.
"Ssso we meet again Alex, what a pleasssure. I hope you have had a pleasant flight so far boy becaussse it's not going to last!"
"What do you want Thock." I yelled back.
"Oh nothing much, jussst trying to make your life a killer. You know, sssame old sssame old, you will die by my hand sssooner or latter. If you sssurvive what I have in mind you will just have another challenge waiting for you around the bend. I would honessstly love to ssstay and chat but I have a plane to bring down. Have fun boy!" Thock laughs evilly sending a chill running down my spine.
"Thock I will get you for thissss!" I holler, more for my own reassurance than as a threat.
Immediately after finishing talking with Thock I noticed that the storm was picking up. Even with the wind from the plane moving through the air I could tell that the storm wind was getting stronger. There where more constant flashes of lightning and not only that the flashes of lightning where a deep red. Several of them had narrowly missed hitting the plane. I was getting really scared now. Not only did Thock have the power to appear in peoples dreams but he seemed to also have power over the storm. What else he is capable of I hope I don't have to find out.
As the storm continued to strengthen I noticed that less and less of the lightning was the usual bright yellowy white colour they normally were but more the red coloured ones that I knew Thock was controlling. It was then I knew that he was getting ready for something big but not sure what it is. Then I heard Thock's voice again…
"I have had enough fooling around with you. Time to bring you down boy!!!" came the loud booming voice echoing all around the dark sky.
Just as Thock finished saying this I saw a flash of red lightning that had just gone through the plane's wing. We were hit! The entire right side wing was gone and we were going down. I had a harder time breathing as the smoke from where the gaping hole was coming straight at me. I wanted to let go of the plane but could not, for we where already spinning and if I did let go I would have no control of my own flight. I would still be in a spin of my own heading for the ground so I just did what I could and held on tight. I tried not passing out from the G force but that did not last long as I noticed my vision fade, I was starting to pass out. I couldn't afford to do that as then I would loose my grip and plunge to my death so I started concentrating hard on holding on. I forced myself to stay alert.
Our descent to the earth felt like forever but it could not have been more than five to ten minutes as my life flashed back before my eyes. Past events of my child hood of when my brother and I had fun with my parents, back in British Columbia when we where 12 and 13 having fun on the monorail with my mom going back to the hotel from the mall, and then to my brothers weeding which was the last time I saw him before he moved away. We where supposed to see him this coming Christmas. Then, forward to the past few days of my transformation to what I am today. That's when I realized that I was not ready to give any of this up.
We crashed into some mountains. I had no idea where we were. There was wreckage from the plane everywhere I looked. Pieces of plane, pieces of passengers… As I continued to look around I realized that it was unlikely that anyone would have survived the crash. The plane had broken into three separate parts. The cockpit was in the worst shape as it was upside down and it was also a bit flattened (about half the normal height). Then there was the tail section that was on the side of a cliff teetering precariously on a couple of tree branches that were sticking over the edge. All the tail fins where scattered about and one was imbedded in the side of a tree 100 meters away. Then there was the cabin section that was also flattened but not nearly as bad as the cockpit. I could hear some screaming from it as I moved closer to inspect it for survivors. After I finished my search of the wreckage I had discovered that 16 of the people had survived most of them if not all where seriously hurt, with broken ribs, arms and legs. I did what I could for them and built a small fire to keep them warm. I left them a bit of a wood stack that they could use to keep the fire going hopefully until they were rescued.
Soon after I finished setting those up I checked to see if my I phone still worked. It was scratched but still worked thankfully. After inspecting more thoroughly, I called 911 and told them about the crash site and confirmed the location with my GPS. I let them know that there were some survivors from the crash then I hung up. I then used the GPS and found that not only did we not go as far as I thought we had to Carson City but that we had also gotten turned around and where currently in the Appalachian mountain range. We were closer to where we had started than where we where supposed to be going. This got me pissed. I took off and headed towards Carson City and thanks to Thock and his game it would take me a lot longer to get there.
It was already starting to get dark. After a while I decided to find a place to stay for the night as the sun was rapidly descending. It did not take long to locate a cave that would be a nice shelter for the night. As I entered I noticed that there was an abandoned fire place. There were signs of a recent fire so I put a claw over it and from how cold it was I discerned that it was from some time last night but not much longer. Not knowing if the person or persons that had stayed the night would be coming back or not I decided on staying further back in the cave and around a corner. It seemed like a good enough place to lie down for the night so I just laid down, curled up and fell asleep.
